I loved how authentic and community-based the Nimalung Tshechu felt. It wasn’t overly crowded or touristy, which made it easier to engage with locals and observe the rituals respectfully. The performances were mesmerizing, especially the ones by masked dancers and local villagers. Our guide helped explain the stories behind each dance, which made it all the more meaningful. The setting of Nimalung Monastery, surrounded by forests and rolling hills, added to the magic. This festival truly offers a window into the heart of Bhutanese culture in a peaceful setting.
