I included the Punakha Festival in my trip based on a friend’s recommendation, and wow — it completely blew my mind. I’ve been to festivals all over Asia, but nothing matches the intensity, beauty, and authenticity of this one. The Dzong itself is stunning, and when it’s filled with monks in colorful robes, masked dancers, and chanting locals — it’s a sight you’ll never forget. I loved the vibe — it wasn’t touristy or over-commercialized. Everyone was genuinely there for the tradition. The Punakha Drubchen war dance was especially cool, like live historical theatre with full community involvement. Best part? Locals were super friendly and explained what everything meant.
