We attended the Thimphu Festival as a family with two kids (ages 8 and 11), and it was one of the most rewarding cultural experiences we've had while traveling. The children were fascinated by the colorful masks, the drumbeats, and the dancing monks. We spent hours watching the performances and visiting food stalls nearby. Our guide explained each dance to keep the kids engaged, and they were particularly intrigued by the Dance of the Lords of the Cremation Grounds! The whole atmosphere was festive yet respectful. It’s a fantastic way to teach children about Buddhism, Bhutanese culture, and the importance of tradition.
