We chose June for the Nimalung Tshechu festival in Bumthang—masked dancers, drumming, and butter-sculpture rituals! Our kids adored feeding takins (national animal) in Thimphu. The rain? Light drizzles that freshened the pine forests during our Chimi Lhakhang fertility temple hike. Our guide, Sonam, snagged us front-row seats at Punakha’s flag-lowering ceremony. Hotels (Zhiwa Ling in Paro) had cozy fireplaces—ideal for post-hike hot-stone baths. Note: Leeches appeared near Punakha’s rivers; our guide had salt ready! June’s misty valleys felt like our private Bhutan.
