As someone working in environmental education, the Black-Necked Crane Festival was incredibly moving. It shows how conservation can be woven into community spirit and tradition. The fact that schoolchildren learn about the birds and express that learning through dance and theater gives me hope. I appreciated the local commitment to preserving the Phobjikha Valley as a safe space for these cranes. The event was festive, but every performance carried a message. Bhutan is setting an example here — and I’d recommend this festival to anyone working in sustainability or eco-tourism.
