We had the privilege of attending the Paro Tsechu as part of our guided cultural tour of Bhutan, and it became the highlight of our trip. Despite being in our 70s, we found the festival very accessible, and our guide made sure we had good seating and time to rest in between. What impressed us most was the deep devotion of the Bhutanese people. Watching young children sit quietly beside their grandparents, listening intently to sacred stories as the dancers performed, was incredibly touching. The entire festival had a sense of purity and purpose — nothing commercial, nothing rushed, just meaningful celebration. It reminded us of a time when festivals had soul.
